For asphalt contractors, two inches is the minimum acceptable thickness for your pavement. However, at Berchtold Asphalt, we don’t cut corners and cheat you in terms of pavement thickness. After compacting, we aim for an asphalt thickness closer to three inches for residential and four inches for commercial, with a granular base aggregate six to eight inches deep.
